Andrey Silvestrov
Movie and theatre director, artist and producer.
His works in cinema as director and producer include Volga-Volga (2006), Kandinsky Award for the Best Media Project of the Year; Brain (2010), the Best Experimental Film Award of the Syracuse International Film Festival in New York; Birmingham Ornament (2011), Discovery Award of the Horizons Programme at The Venice International Film Festival; Birmingham Ornament-2 (2013), Special Prize of the Rome Film Festival; Russia As a Phantazma (2016), a collective work of the participants of the KanskFilm Festival, Top Prize of Kinoshock Festival; Ice Hole (2017), premiered at Kinotavr Film Festival. Imprint in motion (2021) is a cross-media project fusing the fine arts, contemporary dance, music and film-making. Up and Down (2024), Numbness (2025)
Produced the following movies: For Marx… (2012), Elixir (2015), No Place For Fools and Monkey, Ostrich and Grave (2017) and others. Special and retrospective screenings of Andrey Silvestrov’s films took place at TATE Modern (London, UK), Ludwig Museum (Cologne, Germany), Institute of Contemporary Arts (London, UK), Pompidou Centre (Paris, France).
Theatre works include: Ice Hole at Meyerkhold Center (2016), Crime and Punishment (2017) and The Life and Strange Adventures of Solomon Mimon (2021) at Stanislavsky Electrotheatre, Sipurim-Shpil at Teatr.doc (2019) and others.
In 2008-2016,2020,2021 – director of the annual Innovation Awards in the sphere of contemporary art.
